St Andrews Voices 2014

Scotland’s Festival of Vocal & Choral Music taking place 23-26 October 2014

Set in the beautiful historic town of St Andrews and drawing together the very best musicians from the UK and beyond, St Andrews Voices  2014 presents inspirational concerts celebrating the voice in all its many guises: opera, jazz, Lieder, musical comedy, choral, early music, contemporary music and more…

St Andrews has a strong market for music and culture, unrivalled scenery, an international reputation as the home of golf, proximity to some of Scotland’s major cities (Dundee, Edinburgh and Perth), plus all the vibrancy of a university town. All these factors make it a matchless place for a top-class music festival, and in October 2012 St Andrews Voices brought this vision to life for the first time. Since then, the festival has gone from strength to strength and has become one of the country’s cultural gems.

There are many successful chamber music festivals around the country, just as there are numerous summer opera festivals. What is more unusual is a festival that places the voice, and all its diverse musical incarnations, at the centre of its programme. St Andrews Voices does just this, bringing the festival a number of strengths, not least the wide audience base that vocal music attracts, and the opportunity to explore unique programming that crosses traditional genre boundaries.

From beautiful concerts in the intimate St Leonard’s Chapel to Afternoon Tea accompanied by mellow jazz at Rufflets’ Hotel, there is bound to be an event in this year’s programme which appeals to the music lover in you.
