You’ve probably heard us talking about #Scotlandhour in the past but perhaps you’ve wondered what it’s all about?
What is Scotlandhour?
Scotlandhour is a monthly chat on Twitter discussing all aspects of visiting Scotland from accommodation and dining to fantastic days out and hidden gems. The beauty of Scotlandhour is that the advice comes from genuine people who are either Scottish or love visiting Scotland – so it’s real, inside info!
Scotlandhour started in August 2011 and has been growing in popularity ever since.
Scotlandhour takes places on the last Wednesday of every month from 9pm to 10pm.
Getting involved is easy! Simply tweet during the designated times and include #Scotlandhour in your tweet – remember you MUST include the hash key (#) or your tweet won’t be picked up by the other participants.
You can include links and pictures in your tweets too.
Every month has a theme, for example this month’s theme is “Scotland’s Playground” so we’ll be chatting about getting active, outdoors, sports and activities.
To keep things structured, the #Scotlandhour hosts (@BairdTravels (Scotlandhour founder, Dougie), @ScotlandHour (manned by Mark Calpin), @HIEHamilton, @AileenLamb, @SusanMcNaughton, @LesleyJudge and @FionaDrane) will tweet a series of five questions (at 9:00 pm, 9:10 pm, 9:20 pm, 9:30 pm and 9:40 pm) based on the monthly theme.
Examples of the questions and how to answer:
Q1: Where are your kids’ favourite holiday places in Scotland and why? #ScotlandHour.
You would then tweet your answer in this format . . .
A1: We love St Andrews because of the great beaches! #ScotlandHour
The final ten minutes of #Scotlandhour is set aside for general chat, remarks and advice about Scotland.
So do you use Twitter? Do you love Scotland? If yes we’d love you to get involved in #Scotlandhour!
