Rufflets helps St Andrews Sparkle

Rufflets Hotel helps St Andrews sparkle this Christmas

Rufflets Country House Hotel has been unveiled as the principal sponsor of this year’s St Andrews Festive Lights displays.

The hotel’s guests have this year donated over £2,100 to the ‘Brighter St Andrews’ charitable fund, and it has been decided to allocate all of this sum towards the 2014 festive lights.

The hotel was the setting this week for Rufflets General Manager, Stephen Owen, to hand over a cheque to Jim McArthur, the Chairman of St Andrews Partnership, which took over responsibility for the town’s lighting displays in 2013.

Mr Owen said, “Rufflets Hotel is delighted to have helped raise money for such a good local cause. We were very proud to learn that we have now become the leading supporter of ‘Brighter St Andrews’, having raised over £5,000 for the fund since 2011.”

“Rufflets’ guests love St Andrews, and we are sure they will be pleased to know that their donations are helping to bring colour and light to the town during the darkest few weeks of the year. We’re all now looking forward to the lights switch-on on St Andrew’s Day.”

Mr McArthur added, “The contributions made by Rufflets’ generous guests have allowed us to further expand our festive lighting plans, after a successful first year in 2013. We are very grateful both to these visitors and to the hotel’s staff for administering all the donations. St Andrews is now set to sparkle brighter than ever this festive season!“

The Festive Lights Switch-On will form part of the St Andrew’s Day Celebrations event taking place in South Street from 2pm-7.30pm on 30 November. The occasion, headlined by Eddi Reader and her band, will encompass music, dance, a mass-participation ceilidh and much more. The lights switch-on is scheduled to take place at approximately 5.45pm.
