The volunteers who run the “St Andrews in Bloom” campaign have been celebrating triple success for the town in the annual “Beautiful Fife” Awards.
At a ceremony held in Glenrothes on 28 August, St Andrews in Bloom representatives collected no fewer than three awards:
Ray Pead, who chairs the St Andrews in Bloom campaign, reacted with delight to the news:
“At heart, St Andrews in Bloom is all about the local community, and the Beautiful Fife judges scored us very highly on our local engagement. In a year when we have been focussing our efforts on St Andrews’ entry in the Britain in Bloom competition, it is very pleasing that we have also been able to keep our eye on the ball at local level. “
“We have worked harder than ever since the New Year to ensure that St Andrews looks at its best, and in recent weeks we have been delighted to welcome new volunteers and sponsors. St Andrews is looking great this summer, and this simply could not have happened without all the businesses, organisations and individuals who help us so generously”.
The latest donation has come from Madras College FP Girls Club, which has sponsored a colourful new planter (pictured), located in front of the Madras buildings in South Street.
Concluded Mr Pead, “We now look forward to the Britain in Bloom Awards in October, but whatever the outcome then, we are happy to know that in the eyes of Beautiful Fife, we have helped make St Andrews a better place to live, work, study and visit.”
