Congratulations to the University of St Andrews which has just placed fourth in the UK in the Guardian’s latest university league table. It has also been placed top in Scotland.
St Andrews is the only Scottish university to feature in the overall UK top ten.
The department of Anthropology came top in the UK while the faculties of history and history of art are joint top with Cambridge – so pretty good company!
Accolades also went to the Politics (second in the UK) and Physics (joint second with Lancaster). Classics achieved the third overall spot for the UK.
Theology, maths, english, marine sciences, religious studies, chemistry, philosophy, psychology, geography, biosciences and environmental sciences also made the top ten lists for their respective subjects.
The Guardian takes into account factors such as graduate career prospects, entry requirements, student-to-staff ratio, and spend per student when composing its list. It also takes into account how happy students have been with their course.
Fantastic news for the University and fantastic news for St Andrews!
