St Andrew’s Day – Lantern Making Workshops

As part of theSt Andrews Day Celebrations and in preparation for the evening’s parade there will be several lantern making workshops throughout the day. During these fun 2-hour workshop’s you will make and decorate your very own willow and tissue paper lantern. You will then be able to join the lantern parade with your own creation.

The enchanting parade will take you from the world’s largest outdoor ceilidh at Westport down to the Harbour where you’ll enjoy a St Andrew’s themed theatrical fire show telling the fable of how Regulus became shipwrecked off the North East coast of Fife with the bones of Saint Andrew, and came ashore in what would later become known as the town of St Andrews that we all know and love. This will be followed by a magnificent fireworks display to end the celebrations.

There will be three separate workshops in the Town Hall throughout the day. The times for each workshop are as follows:

9.00.am – Family workshops
11.15.am – Family workshops
3.30.pm – Ages 12+ workshops

All ages welcome to the Family Workshops, however, under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult. Aged 12 and above only to the final workshop (13:30 – 15:00). Please wear old clothes and shoes as the glue can be a little messy.
