Time for Tea!

With the weather getting warmer and the days getting longer, I’ve found myself often meandering the streets, popping into a charity shop, reading a book on the lawn, and visiting cafes and tea rooms with my friend Lizzie have been some of my favorite passtimes! One of the best things to do in St. Andrews is to relax with a cup of tea or latte in good company or just people watch! Here are four of my favorite places to do just that…

Northpoint – I’ve termed Northpoint as the landmark cafe of St. Andrews. Known for where Will and Kate had their first date, it has the feel of a truly hustling and bustling cafe in the middle of a college town. It’s the perfect place to go to grab a quick cup of coffee or tea that is economical. It’s definitely my number one stop after a day of errands.

Taste – If you’re looking to be transported to a cafe with a hip yet organic vibe, Taste is for you. I believe Taste has the best coffee in town, hands down. The baristas are like scientists as anything from your americano to latte to espresso is made with care using the best beans, milk steamed to perfection and finished off with the prettiest coffee designs. Taste’s coffee are a work of art.

Jannettas – Jannettas is a tourist favorite, and to be honest, a student’s favorite stop. Head on over for a bit of coffee and some ice cream. The outdoor tables and umbrellas makes Jannettas the place to be on a sunny, warm day!

Balgove Larder – If you’re looking for the absolute Scottish experience, Balgove will not fail you. My friends and I head on over to Balgove for an afternoon with lots of nature, beautiful scenes and a way to just escape the centre of St. Andrews. But if you’re visiting Balgove for a tea or coffee, you must always indulge in one of their homemade cakes or scones. The best Scottish tea, coffee and cake experience you will have, trust me.

These are my favorite cafes to visit on a typical weekend afternoon in St. Andrews, but I’m curious to hear your selection!
